Our Story

  • Founded in 2011 as one of the first non-traditional high schools of its kind in the state, specifically to support the city’s large population of students looking for the opportunity to earn rigorous high school credit at an accelerated rate while preparing for success in college and a career after earning a diploma.

  • Originally two campuses of 150 students each, RAHS was later combined to one campus of 300+ students in the Uptown area during the 2012-2013 school year.

  • The Early Childhood Center opened in February 2013 to support students, faculty and community members with children ages 0-4.

  • Added career/technical education courses in nursing; expanded to include carpentry and construction in 2014-2015, and digital media in 2016-2017.

  • To date, more than 350 graduates

Our Values

  • Professionalism: Blue Dogs come to school or work on time with required materials, dress appropriately, communicate clearly and in a timely manner, meet expectations (or respectfully challenge them), and take ownership for their personal responsibilities.

  • Empowerment: Blue Dogs take initiative for their own learning and growth, seek to improve themselves for the betterment of the group, and actively support and encourage those around them.

  • Resilience: Blue Dogs reach their goals regardless of external difficulties by embracing challenges and bouncing back from failure; they reflect on their own actions and reach out for support when necessary.

  • Fellowship: Blue Dogs are personally invested in the success of the people around them, know and utilize the unique contributions of each member of the group, and actively seek out ways to contribute to the whole.

  • Accomplishment: Blue Dogs set and achieve ambitious goals for themselves; they have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
